“HANNY” (as she liked to be called by her friends) had 3 incredible lives! Being the daughter of Dutch parents, she was born & raised in the jungles of Indonesia (a Dutch colony) in the early part of the 20th century. She spent the first 20 years of her life there and then moved to Holland with her family just in time to be living in that occupied country in WWII. She met her future husband (Bram) during that time, and after the war, they immigrated to the USA.
These 3 very distinctly different experiences formed a profoundly spiritual, compassionate and wise individual who had much to share with the world, from her artistic abilities to her deep faith in the human soul.
Join me on a journey that explores the documentation of her life through her autobiography ‘THREADS”, filled with vivid illustrations and stories that reflect her courage, stamina and strength of character.
I will read excerpts from her book, show some of her charming illustrations, and share my own thoughts on her life and legacy.
I have so much to thank her for – after all, she was my mother!
